This report summarises insights gathered from two research impact activities conducted in Kumasi and Accra, Ghana regarding COVID-19 and households’ lived experiences during the lockdown and policy recommendations for improving housing experiences and future pandemic preparedness. It categorises the issues discussed into five themes: housing-related issues, urban governance-related issues, law enforcement and public sensitisation, accessing housing data, and improvements in service provision. Policy recommendations highlight the importance of enhancing sanitation facilities and increasing affordable housing supply, stakeholder engagement in pandemic planning, and uptake of digital address system, among others.
