Mill Lane Library

Borrowers must have a University or University Library card. The library is open to any member of the University with a card. Students and other members of the four departments may borrow 10 books at a time, visitors may borrow 6. Fines of 50p per day will be levied on most overdue books. Borrowers with fines of £2.00 or more will not be able to borrow. Lost and damaged books must be replaced. Books can be renewed if not required by another reader. Books can be renewed online by choosing your account in Newton, checking Mill Lane Library from the drop-down list and putting in your barcode and name. Books cannot be renewed if they are overdue, if you have more than £2.00 fine outstanding. They can only be renewed twice online after which they must be returned. Recalled books must be returned within 2 days, after that time fines will be charged.

There is a security system in the library which will sound if an uncharged book goes out. Please respect other readers and be quiet in the library. Mobile phones must be switched off. if you want to use a Mobile Phone, please use the Mobile Phone zone at the top of the stairs near the entrance to the library. No food or drinks can be brought into the library of computer room. Use of email in computer room must be restricted to 5 minutes in busy periods. There is a water cooler available for your use.

The library hours during term are 0900-1900 Monday to Friday. A bell will be rung 15 minutes before closing and the library should be vacated by the hour. Late leavers are in danger of being locked in the building so please vacate the premises quickly.
