4CMR’s objective is to foresee strategies, policies and processes that are effective in mitigating human-induced climate change.
We aim to be at the forefront of research in the area of climate change mitigation through technological change induced by the use of economic instruments such as the EU’s Emissions Trading Scheme.

4CMR is a core partner in the Tyndall Centre and has close links to other Cambridge groups such as the Cambridge Energy Forum, the Centre for Public and Economic Policy in Land Economy, the Electricity Policy Research group in the Faculty of Economics, the Judge Business School and Cambridge Econometrics.
Our research on climate change mitigation is organised around energy-environment-economy (E3) econometric and simulation modelling at UK, European and global levels. Our approach emphasises detailed implications for the energy system and the economy of policies that promote long-term low greenhouse gas technological change.
