The members of the group are very involved in a range of external activities, including:

Participation in agenda setting bodies


Invited expert to workshop organized for NSF-supported the CSISS (the Center for Spatially Integrated Social Science, to be held in Santa Barbara, California. []), Jan 11-14, 2001. The CSISS is embarking on a 5-year programme of infrastructure-building efforts aimed at promoting integration in social science research through developing and enhancing a spatial perspective.

UK Member of the Management Committee (plus two working groups) for a European Concerted Research Action designated as COST Action (A17) “Small and Medium Enterprises, Economic Development and Regional Convergence in Europe” The budget for this international collaborative effort has been estimated as 5million EUROS in 1995 prices. TheMemorandum of Understanding will remain in force for a period of 4 years.First meeting of Management Committee attended in Brussels 17 November 2000, second meeting scheduled for 23-25 March, in Barcelona

Over the years the course has been attended by about 150 participants to date, creating a growing and influential network covering 17 countries.
