English Partnerships: Appraisal of Economic Benefits

The aim of this work was to set out clearly the method of appraising benefits of different types of regenerative projects, including large partnership projects, not only at local and regional levels but also nationally. Consideration of the national benefits required assessment of the supply side gains from the Agency's activities which were likely to be sustained over the long term. This method was then used to estimate the local, regional and national economic impacts likely to be derived from the Agency's overall programme of activities over the period 1994/95 to 1997/98 which involved English Partnerships expenditure of over £1 billion and associated private investment of over £4 billion.
