- Economics of civil conflict, institutions, development, conservation, micro-econometrics, policy evaluation, experimental methods
- Current work includes a large randomised control trial in Sierra Leone aimed at poverty alleviation and nature conservation in collaboration with Gola Forest Programme and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
