How we use your personal information

--Alumni and Supporters of Department of Land Economy--

This statement explains how the Department of Land Economy, University of Cambridge handles and uses data we collect about Real Estate Finance Alumni members.

Department of Land Economy is committed to the proper management of personal data.

We will retain your data until you request us to do otherwise. When changes are made to this statement, we will publish the updated version to our website and notify you by other communications channels as we deem appropriate or necessary.

 

The controller for your personal data is the Department of Land Economy, 19 Silver street, Cambridge CB3 9EP. The person responsible for data protection at the time of issue, and the person who is responsible for monitoring compliance with relevant legislation in relation to the protection of personal data, is the Mrs Gordana Adamceska-Halson, Employment and Mentoring Coordinator, ga234@cam.ac.uk.

 

What information do we collect?

 

We retain personal data (provided directly by you, Linkedin, Company websites, or created by us via direct communication, including contact information retained/ shared by the CUDAR) as follows:

 

i) Your current name;

ii) Your current and previous contact details (email and/ or posting address);

iii) Phone/ mobile numbers

iv) Job title and company of employment;

v) Information about your areas of professional interest;

vi) Records of any communications (verbal or written) we have had with you, including the purpose and outcome of those communications;

vii) Any communication preferences confirmed by you;

viii) Ways in which you have supported the Department of Land Economy in the past and present.

 

 

When you provide this information, we will assume (unless you notify us otherwise) that we can use this information for other purposes outlined in this statement. We may supplement information from other public sources that we consider to be reliable (e.g. your public social media profile(s), University publications, high profile news reports or articles) and may check their accuracy with your from time to time.

How your data is used by the Department of Land Economy, University of Cambridge

We collect and process your personal data, as specified below, for a number of purposes, including:

  • Providing you with information concerning the Mentoring Scheme and opportunities to volunteer as a mentor;
  • Invite you to Mentoring annual events in Cambridge and London;
  • Providing you information with regards to the Land Economy Employment Programme;
  • Sending you publications such as the MPhil in Real Estate Finance Resume book by email and/ or post – additional consent is required;
  • Provide you with job opportunities as a part of our Employment programme;
  • Engaging you in Department of Land Economy, CLEAB and CULS related events that we believe will be of interest to you, including Alumni and Open events, and other ways you can contribute;
  • Providing you with information about the development of the Department of Land Economy, including major initiatives and programmes relating to either the academic endeavour or the provision of services and facilities to members and the wider public;
  • Providing you with information about CLEAB and CULS related events, publications, conferences and further courses;
  • Promoting the University of Cambridge and related College services we believe might be of interest to you;

How do we protect your information?


Data retained by the Department of Land Economy is kept on secure servers and shared only with staff that are directly involved and concerned with the projects/ activities related to Alumni. We will retain your data indefinitely in support of your lifelong relationship with the Department of Land Economy or until you request us to do otherwise. We maintain electronic and paper records as necessary.

Communications


For event promotions, notifications on news, Mentoring Scheme, Employment opportunities, the Department of Land Economy communicates primarily via email, LinkedinIn and Facebook.

Any other matters are communicated directly to individual via email and/or phone depending on the urgency and sensitivity of the subject matter.

You are able to change your preferences (or ask us to stop sending you updates and invitations on events and other communications completely) by post and email. You may request changes at any time.


How we share your personal data
Personal data of our Alumni members is not shared with the other University Departments/ Faculties without your additional agreement.

Details of all Alumni that act as Mentors are shared within the Mentoring Scheme (mentees) for which they have already given an additional consent - https://www.landecon.cam.ac.uk/about-us/mentoring-scheme/mentors-form.

 

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personal information.

 

We also facilitate communication between individual alumni, but in doing so we do not release personal contact details without prior notification and permission.

 

Your rights

 

You have the right:

- Opt out of any future correspondence from the Department of Land Economy

*Where you opt out of all future communications or exercise your right to erasure, we will continue to maintain a core set of personal data (name, email) to ensure we do not contact you inadvertently in future.
