The Department of Land Economy was delighted to host the 25th International BioEcon Conference on the economics of biodiversity conservation at King's College, Cambridge between the 4th and 6th September 2024.

The keynote speakers were Professor Elizabeth J. Z. Robinson (London School of Economics and Political Science) and Professor Paul R. Armsworth (University of Tennessee). The event was attended by 130 delegates and included 80 paper representations and two special policy sessions.

This year’s event marked the special 'silver' anniversary of BioEcon annual conferences. There was therefore a special session at the end of the Conference (over anniversary cake!) to take stock of 'experiences' and 'lessons learnt' from 25 years of collaborative research and scientific exchange on the economics of biodiversity.

The event was financially supported by the Department of Land Economy, University of Cambridge, The Centre for International Environmental Studies (CIES) at the Geneva Graduate Institute (IHEID), the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig, the Dragon Capital Chair in Biodiversity Economics, University of Exeter Business School, PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, and the Brandenburg University of Technology. The Conference was endorsed by the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE).

We are greatly appreciative towards the sponsors, whose financial contribution enabled us to subsidise all Conference fees and also waive the fees entirely for 15 PhD delegates (all working on biodiversity economics).
