Darya Pryma is entering her second year of the MSt in Real Estate at the Department of Land Economy. Her studies are supported by a Departmental award, the MSt in Real Estate Bursary.

Here's what she has to say about her time on the course so far...

With a background in Architecture and Private Debt funds, I currently manage a €1Bn Direct Lending fund in Europe. My decision to pursue the MSt in Real Estate stems from a desire to merge my two passions—architecture and finance—to gain an investor’s perspective on tangible assets. The University of Cambridge has been a dream of mine since I was 17, and its Real Estate program, ranked as one of the best in the world, was the perfect fit.

The generous scholarship from the department enabled me to realize this dream and further my professional growth in a field I am deeply passionate about. The program expertly combines technical and theoretical knowledge, making it ideal for full-time professionals like myself. The emphasis on networking, along with the diverse international cohort—spanning Europe, Asia, America, and the Gulf—has enriched the learning experience, offering unique perspectives from various markets.

Over the first year, I delved into portfolio management theories, research principles, and project development, culminating in an investment thesis based on a real property case. The professors are incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and treat us as peers, which creates an enjoyable and engaging learning environment.

Beyond the classroom, I also had the opportunity to join the CU Land Society and the Cambridge Society of Paris. These affiliations opened doors to inspiring discussions and connections, whether at annual dinners or over a glass of wine. I am truly grateful to Cambridge and our Land Economy professors for their support and for making this journey so enriching.
