Held in partnership with the European Recycling Industry Confederation (EuRIC) and the Textile Recycling Industry Association at the EuRIC's Brussels offices, this technical workshop focused on developing and refining proposals for reforming the Harmonized System (HS) and Basel Code by 2027, with the aim of better serving the needs of an increasingly circular and sustainable textile economy.

Dr Parris, CRSD Research Associate who led the workshop, stated:

"This workshop represented a critical step forward in our ongoing efforts to support EuRIC and the TRA in their work to modernise international trade codes for second-hand clothing and recycled textiles”

The workshop featured CRSD's signature interactive exercises, enabling participants to collaboratively develop proposals that align with the industry's circular economy ambitions. This hands-on approach ensured that the resulting recommendations reflect real-world operational requirements while supporting sustainable practices.

This event marks a significant milestone in CRSD's broader initiative, "Reforming Textile Trade Codes for a Sustainable & Circular Textile Economy." The proposals developed during the workshop will inform upcoming advocacy efforts aimed at implementing necessary changes to international trade frameworks.
