About the Lecture

Security of tenure – the certainty that a person’s rights to land will be recognized and protected – is a major issue in enabling development to take place in an equitable manner for all, including for the weaker and more vulnerable members of society. The 21st Century is awakening to secure and equitable access to tenure as an important priority in global development targets.

Paul Munro-Faure will review: 1) how pressures on secure tenure have been developing; 2) the global response in addressing these challenges; and 3) solutions that will allow global targets and peoples’ expectations to be met.

About the Speaker

Paul co-chaired the Food and Agriculture Organization’s Worldwide Task Force for the implementation of Voluntary Guidelines in respect of land tenure around the world, and led their tenure work from 2000-2017.
