Dr Pivo is a professor of real estate, urban planning and natural resources at the University of Arizona.

About the speaker:

Dr Pivo won the prestigious Legacy Award from the American Real Estate Society for his paper with Jeffrey Fisher on Income, Value, and Returns in Socially Responsible Office Properties. His work has been foundational to industry innovations such as the Real Capital Analytics Walk Score Index and the Vert Global Sustainability REIT Fund. He is co-founder of several related organizations, such as the UN Environment Program Finance Initiative Property Working Group, and been advisor to many others, such as the World Green Building Council, the Principles for Responsible Investing, the Global Reporting Initiative and the Congress for New Urbanism.


In this lecture, Dr. Pivo will discuss the origins, development, and contemporary practice of Responsible Property Investing (RPI). He defines RPI as efforts to address ecological integrity, social well-being, and human fulfillment in the course of profitable real estate investing. His talk will focus on the purposes of the field, best practices, evaluation criteria, executive attitudes, financial outcomes, new products, and his most recent economic research findings. The talk should be of interest to those curious about the intersection of property investing, urban planning, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility.
