Applications are invited for a postdoctoral Research Associate (LA) in Landscape Regeneration and a Just Transition to support a project funded by the UK NERC at the Centre for Landscape Regeneration. The Research Associate will join a £10m research programme funded by the U.K. Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) through its Changing the Environment programme.

This Research Associate will work directly with Professor Shailaja Fennell, Professor of Regional Transformation and Economic Security at the University of Cambridge, Director at CEENRG, Fellow of Jesus College, and Director, Centre of South Asian Studies. The RA will also play an important role interacting will Centre partners from the University and beyond.

The Research Associate will take a central role in the analysis which will include: Analysis of secondary farming datasets Primary data collection on crop preferences and farming techniques in farming communities Qualitative data collection on health and well-being through participatory data.
Conducting stakeholder engagement efforts to engage key groups to develop policy options and mixes Building a typology of farming options for landscape regeneration within the context of the ELMS

Candidates should have (i) a PhD (submitted or nearly submitted at the time of application) in a field relevant to the interface of agricultural economics, public policy, economic geography, and public health OR (ii) have an established professional career that interfaces the fields of agricultural services, landscape management and public health, and are interested in obtaining a PhD alongside their employment at the CLR. For both groups of applicants, experience with quantitative social science research, mixed-methods research and public policy analysis is desirable. Applicants should provide evidence of potential for research and publication at the highest level, as well as a strong interest in engagement in empirically-grounded, quantitative, and multi-disciplinary policy research.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
