Fresh thinking for the Prince of Wales

Dr Nazia Habib, founder of the Centre for Resilience and Sustainable Development (CRSD), met with royal hosts and other dignitaries at Buckingham Palace to mark Commonwealth Day, the annual celebration observed by people all over the Commonwealth in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe. The theme for Commonwealth Day 2023 is ‘Forging a sustainable and peaceful common future’. CRSD said, "We are always amazed by the talents and enthusiasm of people around the world in our workshops and seminars, as we work to create solutions for a better future."

In December 2022, CRSD ran an all-day event at Newnham College, focusing on transforming the capacity of governments in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) of the Commonwealth to attract sustainable finance for youth (age 15-35) initiatives. We ran a session using our Cambridge Policy Boot Camp, with enthusiastic responses. The Rt Hon. Patricia Scotland, Secretary General of the Commonwealth Secretariat attended the event and commented: “The Commonwealth is a real global change agent. Our small island developing states are on the frontline of climate change, and we are working hard to design and implement innovative financing solutions to help them to improve their resilience and development prospects.”
