The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Academy of Environmental Law has created the Emily Webster Memorial Award, in memory of Dr Emily Webster, former Assistant Professor of Environmental Law at the Department of Land Economy. Dr Webster was a regular attendee of the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law's Academy Colloquia until her sudden passing in October 2023.
Recipients of the Award must embody:
... the essence of hope, positivity, and resilience in the face of environmental challenges... They are known for their ability to listen empathetically, allowing others to be truly heard and seen. Their approach is characterised by a mix of positive encouragement, unwavering support, and a delightful touch of mischievousness that brings joy and lightness to serious endeavours.
The Award will be presented for the first time at the Academy's 2025 Colloquium in Lima, Peru. Nominations will open, and more information will become available, in the coming academic year.
