The Department of Land Economy's Visiting Scholar Coodinator, Lynda Haines, has been nominated under the Professional Services Recognition Scheme 2024.
Lynda was nominated by Professor Helen Bao because of her effective administrative support of the process of onboarding new visiting scholars, the creation of a new handbook for visiting scholars, and the new visiting scholars webpage, amongst other achievements.
Lynda said,
I absolutely love my role as VS Coordinator and am proud that we’ve grown the programme from just seven visitors when I took over the role in 2020-21 to 21 currently visiting and 30 pending arrival/application approval for 2025.
With the growing number of applications being received (especially now from the EU as well as China) the VS programme looks to be a success again in 2025, and I will continue to do my best to make our visitors feel welcome and integrate happily into the department as well as providing the best research workspace and collaborative opportunities we can offer.
See below for a testimonial from Anna Sciacca, a visiting scholar PhD student:
“I wanted to take a moment to say goodbye and to thank you for your warm welcome and support. My visiting period has been a wonderful opportunity for me, allowing me to grow both personally and as a researcher. I hope we can stay in touch.”
