We are delighted that Professor Ning Zhang, a Senior Departmental Fellow at the Department and a distinguished scholar in the field of resource and environmental economics, has been elected a Fellow (Ordinary Member) of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts under Class V: Social Sciences, Law, and Economics. The prestigious honour recognises Professor Zhang's outstanding contributions to the advancement of economic theory and its practical application in resource and environmental studies.

On 17th December 2024, Professor Klaus Mainzer, President of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, officially conveyed the Academy’s felicitations to Professor Zhang in a formal letter of recognition, accompanied by an invitation to the New Fellows' Induction Ceremony in Salzburg, Austria, on 7th–8th March 2025. As Professor Zhang was unable to attend, PhD student Jin Yi from the Department of Land Economy represented him at the ceremony, and received his certificate and medal on his behalf.
