Students visit lead architect Bill Price and staff at WSP London

On January 10th, 2020, a group of students of land economy had a unique opportunity to visit lead architect Bill Price and his staff at WSP London that was formed over 125 years ago out of a group of companies of MRM Partnership, Kennedy and Donkin and Merz and McLellan now known as WSP specializing in engineering, architecture, and design. They have been ranked number 1 by ENR’s latest top 225 international design in the world.

WSP visit

The student’s visit was related to an exciting and game-changing concept that has the potential for transforming how we think about urban design and planning via the concept of transit hyphen-oriented development.

WSP’s concept makes use of air space by building a bridge or platform over properties such as rail lines to develop new city environments. These environments are isolated from noise and vibration. They are sustainable, safe, and provide the ability for development within the inner city with no cost for expensive inner-city property or land.

WSP visit

The visited project provided a real-world example of a solution that can address affordable housing, optimization of land within the inner city, thereby connecting the theoretical with the practical.
