Dr Franz Fuerst and his research team have just published a report which confirmed a link between a home’s energy efficiency and its sale price.  Using econometric modelling on a large sample of house characteristics and sale prices, the study shows that in addition to lowering energy bills, improvements such as wall insulation, double glazing or efficient boilers can also help to achieve a higher resale value compared to similar properties which are less efficient. The study was also featured   in many industry and general-interest news articles, among others in the Daily Mail and the Information Daily and generated a lively online debate on the value of energy efficiency in the housing market. A response to these comments by Dr Fuerst and the Green Deal Team can be found here and here.
