Phil was Professor of Land Economy from 2008 to 2022. During that time he was also Head of Department, Head of the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences and a Deputy Vice Chancellor. In March 2022 Phil joined the University of Bath as its Deputy Vice Chancellor. His research is around urban planning, cities and governance. Recent books include:
