The attached document contains July 2020 update to our database on U.S. government investments in energy research, development, demonstration, and deployment (ERD3) through the U.S. Department of Energy. We annually track the U.S. Department of Energy’s energy research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) budget to ascertain trends, reveal discrepancies, and assess whether budget expenditures are consistent with national priorities.

The database, in Microsoft Excel format, tracks DOE appropriations from FY 1978–2020 and the 2021 Budget Request and includes funding for ERD3 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. It also includes several charts.
