Professor Nazia Habib to Headline Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Distinguished Lecture on the Future of Fuels
Cambridge - September 1, 2025 - Professor Nazia Habib, Founding Director of the Centre for Resilience and Sustainable Development (CRSD) at the University of Cambridge, has been invited to deliver the 2025 Distinguished Guest Lecture (DGL) at the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
The annual DGL, hosted by the RSC’s Environmental Chemistry Group, is one of the society’s flagship events, convening international experts to explore cutting-edge challenges at the intersection of chemistry, sustainability, and society. This year’s symposium, titled “From Dinosaur Juice to Green Dreams: Reimagining Transport Fuels”, will examine the urgent transition from fossil-based fuels to greener, sustainable alternatives.
Professor Habib will headline the event, bringing her unique systems-thinking perspective on how to accelerate the shift to low-carbon fuels while ensuring equity, resilience, and long-term environmental benefits. Her talk will highlight how CRSD’s action-research approach bridges science, policy, and practice, shaping global pathways for sustainable innovation.
“We must reimagine fuels not just as a technical challenge but as a systemic opportunity,” said Professor Habib. “Our transition must support both people and the planet, especially those communities most vulnerable to climate disruption and during the green energy transition phase.”
The 2025 DGL will be held in London and offered in hybrid format to enable participation from audiences around the world.
