Current Role Hiring:

Research Associate (Fixed Term – 9 months) Role

Department of Land Economy

Applications are invited for the Full-time or Part-time Research Associate position to support the research agenda of the Centre for Resilience and Sustainable Development in the Department of Land Economy. The Centre is led by Dr Nazia M Habib, FRSA and managed by a small group of academics. As a part of the team, you will be working on a variety of global projects with focus on good governance, sustainable investment, and responsible innovation themes in the context of climate change, sustainable development and equitable resilience. You will also engage in team efforts to apply for grants, write reports, publish outcomes, manage projects and deliver them. This post-doc job will offer global exposure, for example, in 2022 alone, 37 developing countries will benefit from the research outcome of the Centre.

Candidates should have earned, or about to earn, a PhD degree with a strong quantitative element and a desire to use their research to improve the welfare of humanity and the planet. The disciplinary specialisation of the candidate does not matter much, as long as the skills are there. A successful candidate can come from any number of disciplines: Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Sustainability Science, International Finance, Financial Economics, Physical Geography, Economic Geography, Data Science, Public Policy, International Law and Business Management. Preferably the candidate has some experience with mixed-method research and producing publications.

Importantly, the candidate must have a 'transdisciplinary' mindset - i.e. willing to learn new skills from others or independently, share and teach what they know and be open to working in new ways with new ideas sourced from anywhere.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available on a temporary contract for 9 months in the first instance, with a view to moving to a permanent contract pending available funds and satisfactory performance. Part-time work may also be considered for the right candidate.

All interested candidates are required to submit the following as part of their application:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • Cover letter
