We are delighted to share that the 2024-26 cohort of students on the Department’s new MSt in Climate, Environmental and Urban Policy has just completed their first residential session successfully.

Participants were in Cambridge from Monday 16th September to Friday 27th September.

They were based at Churchill College, Cambridge, where they stayed and had their teaching sessions.

The group attended a full timetable of sessions covering a range of different topics relevant to policy for sustainability transformations, as well as sessions covering academic writing and research literature. There were also sustainability and climate-themed visits to the University’s development at Eddington, the Scott Polar Research Institute, and the Cambridge Botanic Gardens.

Outside of studying, there was plenty of time devoted to getting to know each other: the group took part in a formal dinner at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, jointly with the MSt Real Estate cohort, on the 18th September:

There were also informal drinks with the Founder of the MSt, Professor Jorge Viñuales, at Cambridge’s famous pub The Eagle:

There was also a matriculation dinner at Churchill College, and a visit and social coffee break at the David Attenborough Building.

The Director of the MSt, Aiora Zabala, said of the course:

We’re bringing the long experience of our Department teaching these subjects to a new format suitable for mid-careers and senior professionals. This will enhance our societal impact on policy for sustainability transformations. Participants have very diverse professional backgrounds and the course enriches all those involved, teaching staff and students alike.
