Professor Helen Bao gave a keynote address on behalf of overseas scholars at the "2023 'The Belt and Road' Green Sustainable Development and Technology Innovation Forum". The forum was held in Harbin, China from the 19th to 20th August 2023.
This forum was under the guidance of the International Cooperation Department of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and Communist Youth League Committee of Heilongjiang Province, China. It was hosted in Northeast Forestry University and chaired by Dr. Jie Liu, the director of Master of Management Science and Engineering Programme at Northeast Forestry University. The forum attracted more than 50 young leaders from China and many countries along “the Belt and Road”, including Turkey, South Africa, Nepal, Montenegro, India, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia. Professor Bao also co-chaired the organising committee for the forum, and presented the Newnham College Best Paper Awards.
Newnham College, Cambridge sponsored six best paper awards for female PhD students and early career researchers.
The forum garnered a lot of media attention, including from People's Daily, the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party in China, as well as the National Education Channel.
