We are delighted to announce the following two new professorship appointments to the Department: Harro van Asselt will be the inaugural holder of the Hatton Professor of Climate Law (from September 2023) and Thies Lindenthal will be the new Grosvenor Professor of Real Estate Finance (from March 2023).

A short biography of each is below:

Harro van Asselt

Harro van Asselt is Professor of Climate Law and Policy at the University of Eastern Finland Law School, a Visiting Researcher at Utrecht University’s Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, and an Affiliated Researcher with the Stockholm Environment Institute. Previously, he worked at the University of Oxford and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is also the editor of the Review of European, Comparative & International Environmental Law (RECIEL). He holds a PhD (with distinction) from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.


Thies Lindenthal

Thies Lindenthal is an Associate Professor for Real Estate Finance at the Department of Land Economy, University of Cambridge. He is the Course Director for Cambridge’s MPhil in Real Estate Finance, and is a Fellow at both Murray Edwards College and the Cambridge Endowment for Research in Finance. Before joining Cambridge, he conducted postdoctoral research at MIT’s Center for Real Estate, and completed a PhD at Maastricht University.

 

In addition, we are delighted to be welcoming Justin Kadi from TU Wien as our new Assistant Professor in Planning and Housing (from April 2023).
